Overview

As Associate/Principal Mechanical Engineer at Ramboll, you lead mechanical design delivery for datacentre projects, coordinating with electrical teams and guiding junior engineers. You’ll contribute to high-quality, resilient cooling, ventilation, and control systems within the Data Centre Facilities team. Your work supports sustainable, reliable critical infrastructure and strong client service. Responsibilities

  • Lead Datacentre projects, steering your discipline and supervising engineers from other disciplines
  • Drive project delivery with minimal supervision across technical aspects
  • Utilise design production tools (CAD, Bluebeam, calculations) and collaborate with BIM technicians
  • Complete detailed designs and review others work to meet project needs
  • Inspire confidence with clients and internal stakeholders to strengthen relationships
  • Plan and manage project delivery timelines and milestones
  • Coordinate tasks and allocate resources to ensure deadlines are met

Key requirements

  • Qualified engineer with a proven track record in their discipline
  • Experience with mission critical systems in datacentre or similar environments (e.g., pharma, healthcare)
  • Accredited Honours degree by CIBSE/IET/IMechE or an HNC with commitment to further study
  • Progress towards IEng or CEng status
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to simplify complex concepts
  • Interest in or experience with digital and parametric design tools
