Overview
In this role you will lead mechanical design for complex hospital and healthcare projects, shaping resilient, low‑carbon building services and coordinating digital delivery. You will combine hands‑on engineering with people leadership and client engagement to drive multi‑disciplinary solutions. The position offers chartership support and opportunities to work across the UK and international projects, including high‑profile hospitals. This is a hands‑on, client‑facing role with a clear impact on patient care and sustainable design.

Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design and delivery from concept to handover on healthcare projects
- Mentor and develop mechanical engineering teams and technicians
- Coordinate MEP delivery using Revit/BIM 360 and tools like MagiCad, IES
- Produce and review detailed design calculations, specs, and drawings
- Act as client‑facing technical lead and maintain client relationships
- Manage project scope, resources, and delivery, identifying and mitigating risks
- Support business development through proposals and technical inputs
- Champion sustainability and zero‑carbon design and continuous improvement
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external partners to promote Ramboll’s profile
Key requirements
- Proven track record delivering mechanical building services on UK healthcare or high‑resilience projects
- Experience leading project teams or technical workstreams
- Degree in mechanical/building services engineering or related discipline
- Eligibility for, or progress towards, MCIBSE/MIMechE/MIHEEM; chartership support provided
- Strong Revit/BIM 360 skills and familiarity with MEP tools
- Excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects
- Clear communicator able to explain complex concepts to clients and teams
