Senior/Principal/Associate Civil/Structural Engineer

We are expanding our portfolio in the energy and industrial sectors and seek an experienced Civil or Structural Engineer to join our Global multidisciplinary Industry and Infrastructure Facilities team. You will lead the structural design of buildings in these sectors, support team development, ensure structural integrity, and optimize designs.

This primarily office-based role offers hybrid working options and is located in our offices in Manchester, London, Leeds, Chester, Southampton, or Bristol. Occasional travel to project sites is expected.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing structural engineering projects from conception to completion.
  • Following project delivery models such as FEED/FEL, DED, OE stages.
  • Designing structural systems for energy and industrial facilities, including manufacturing buildings, substations, power stations, and infrastructure.
  • Conducting structural analysis and detailed design to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance with standards.
  • Developing innovative engineering solutions to enhance performance and reduce costs.
  • Ensuring adherence to relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Collaborating with architectural, mechanical, electrical, and process engineering teams.
  • Preparing technical reports, documentation, and proposals.
  • Mentoring and upskilling junior engineers.
  • Staying current with industry trends and technologies.
  • Supporting business development and tendering activities.

Qualifications & experience required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Chartered Engineer status with IStructE or ICE.
  • At least 7 years of experience for senior/principal roles, or 10 years for associate, with specific experience in energy and industrial projects, including substation design buildings.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and safety regulations.

Skills and competencies:

  • Strong understanding of structural design principles, materials, and construction methods.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software such as ETABS, TSD, Robot, or similar.
  • Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of sustainability and energy-efficient design practices.
  • Leadership skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in resource and cost estimation, project planning, and client presentations.
