As our new Principal Structural Engineer, you will be part of our Industry and Infrastructure Facilities team in our London office working on a range of exciting local landmarks as well as national and international projects. This team delivers projects across sectors such as Rail, Aviation, Data Centres and other critical facilities, combining sector‑specific technical expertise with Ramboll’s broader multidisciplinary capabilities. Your key tasks and responsibilities will involve:
- Develop and agree structural concepts and design philosophies
- Inspire and enthuse the engineers and technicians on your projects
- Liaise with clients and collaborators, representing Ramboll at project meetings
- Take ownership as day‑to‑day lead on a project or part of a project
- Push the boundaries of low‑carbon design
Your key deliverables over the first 12 months will be:
- Grow and maintain a network of contacts and be a great ambassador for Ramboll
- Lead the design process for a project (size suitable for level of experience)
- Outside day‑to‑day project work, collaborate with colleagues from the London team and beyond to support implementation of various aspects of the Ramboll Business Plan

For this role, we believe your starting point is:
- Chartered with the IStructE, ICE, or international equivalent
- An excellent communicator capable of explaining complex engineering principles in plain language, verbally, in writing, and through sketching
- Demonstrable experience in at least one of the following infrastructure sectors: Rail, Aviation, Data Centres (or other critical facilities); experience across multiple sectors is highly desirable
- A track record of working on projects with high levels of design, sustainability, or re‑use of existing assets
- Experience in the design of primary construction materials (steel, concrete, timber) and a good general knowledge of building construction; experience of MMC would be beneficial.
- A passion for sustainable solutions
- A multidisciplinary mindset and an aptitude for learning about the wider aspects of building design
