You will be involved in some of the UK’s most innovative and intricate Datacentre projects. As our new Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be working as part of a team, managing your own project work, undertaking detailed design to the required standards, and maintaining excellent levels of client service.
Engineering within the Data Centre Facilities Team as a Mechanical Engineer is about developing highly resilient mechanical systems required to cool and support the critical processes within modern data centres, both sustainably and reliably. You will be involved in the design and delivery of primary mechanical systems such as cooling, ventilation, automation & control, and a wide range of ancillary support systems. You will also develop a rich understanding of building physics, CFD, and sustainable design solutions that will inform the Data Centre Facilities engineering design principles.
You will become part of a team with a strong focus on technical delivery and an excellent understanding of client care. Your role will allow you to collaborate with all disciplines, providing growth and knowledge to enhance your engineering competence.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Take a key role representing Ramboll on datacentre projects leading your own discipline and managing engineers of a complimentary discipline for suitably sized projects.
- Able to work using your own initiative with minimal supervision on all technical aspects of your discipline or have specific specialist experience applicable to the role.
- Complete detailed designs and supervise the work of others in this function.
- Inspire confidence both internally and externally to strengthen client relationships.
- Manage time on projects to suit deadlines and complete assigned tasks.
- Where you are the project mechanical lead, coordinate the tasks so all deadlines are met and allocate resources appropriately.
About you:
- Be a qualified engineer having a proven and demonstrable track record in your discipline.
- Ideally have previous experience working with mission‑critical systems within the datacentre industry or similar industries with critical engineering aspects (e.g. pharmaceutical, health care, enterprise datacentre installations, oil & gas, etc.).
- Have a CIBSE / IET / IMechE Engineering Council accredited honours degree, or an HNC in an applicable discipline with commitment to continue with higher education.
- Have achieved or be working towards IEng or CEng status.
- Able to work using your own initiative with minimal supervision on all technical aspects of your discipline or have specific specialist experience applicable to the role.
- Able to inspire confidence both internally and externally to strengthen client relationships.
- Be an excellent communicator and possess the ability to make what is complicated simple.
- Have an interest in or experience using digital and parametric design tools.
