Ramboll is looking for a passionate, creative and enthusiastic undergraduate intern to join our Building Structures team in Chester for either a 6‑week or 12‑week summer placement. The internship programme is a great way to enhance your learning and employability by gaining real‑world experience with our expert engineers. This is a paid placement based on the Real Living Wage. You will be part of a dynamic and growing company, learning about technical design and other aspects of engineering. You will gain hands‑on experience with drawing and analysis software and will have a mentor who will train, monitor and give feedback on your performance throughout your work.
We aim to provide varied experience, working on real projects, with suitable guidance and supervision, which may include:
- Assisting the team with identifying engineering design solutions to our client’s problems
- Carrying out engineering calculations and computational analysis where appropriate
- Creating engineering drawings and sketches to communicate our solutions effectively
- Shadowing members of the team on site visits, meetings, etc.
- Contributing to Ramboll culture and values by participating in team and company events
- Producing a written summary of your experience during the placement
For this role you need to:
- Be studying toward an MEng or MSc level degree in a relevant engineering subject (from an Engineering Council‑Accredited University) including modules in structural design. Civil or structural engineering degrees would be most relevant, but we would consider general engineering and combined engineering degrees.
- Be in your penultimate year of study, i.e. due to graduate in 2027.
- Be able to attend the Chester office in person for the duration of the placement.
- Have an interest in the design of buildings and associated infrastructure, and an active curiosity about materials and emerging/innovative technologies.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
- Have good written and oral communication skills.
