RAL Chartered Architects is an established, independent architectural practice based in Southport, delivering commercial and residential projects across the North West. In recent years, the practice has successfully secured multiple appointments through local authority and council tender frameworks, expanding its publicly procured work alongside private‑sector commissions.
We are seeking a Senior Architect who is technically strong, highly organised and comfortable taking responsibility for projects with minimal supervision. This role is suited to an architect who thrives in a delivery-focused environment and is confident working with autonomy.
The Role
As Senior Architect, you will be responsible for the end‑to‑end delivery of projects across all RIBA stages, from early feasibility and planning through to construction and completion. You will work directly with directors, clients, consultants and local authorities, managing your own workload and ensuring consistent technical and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead projects across RIBA Stages 0–7
- Produce and coordinate technical design information using Archicad
- Manage planning and building regulations submissions
- Coordinate consultants and technical inputs
- Act as the primary client and local authority contact
- Ensure compliance with council tender and reporting requirements
- Maintain technical accuracy, buildability and regulatory compliance
- Provide guidance to junior staff where required
About You
- ARB and RIBA registered Architect with significant post‑qualification experience
- Proven experience delivering commercial and residential projects
- Experience with local authority procured projects will be advantageous
- Strong technical and delivery‑focused mindset
- Comfortable working independently within an established, independent practice
- Proficient in CAD (ArchiCad preferred)
- Clear communicator with strong stakeholder management skills
- Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
