About the Role

We are building a business intelligence product for lawyers: legal news and deal intelligence for business development, a tool for managing approaches to prospective clients and a live rankings system that lets lawyers credential their work against their peers.

We launch later this year.

You will own the mobile experience in its build out during the next iteration after launch, working alongside the UX, Backend and QA streams.

The data is heavy and our users are busy professionals, so the job is making a large amount of information legible in a few seconds.

Greenfield build, no legacy mobile app, embedded with the delivery team day to day.

Responsibilities

  • Build and ship the production application on i OS and Android, including the path through App Store and Play Store review.
  • Present dense information on a small screen: lists, filters, search, sorting and detail views.
  • Handle offline and cached states so the app stays useful on a train or in a client meeting.
  • Consume and shape REST or Graph QL APIs in partnership with the backend engineers, rather than accepting whatever is handed over.
  • Work with UX on what is feasible on mobile and with QA on coverage and device-specific issues.
  • Maintain testing and CI/CD for mobile releases, then act on crash and performance data after launch.
  • Required Skills
  • 4+ years building and shipping production React Native applications on both i OS and Android, with at least one app you launched on the App Store or Play Store.
  • Experience presenting dense data on a small screen.
  • Testing and CI/CD for mobile releases.
  • Preferred Skills
  • Native Swift or Kotlin alongside React Native.
  • Early-stage product experience, where the stack and the patterns were still being decided.
  • Data-heavy or analytics products, particularly designing for information density.
  • Legal, financial services or another professional services domain.
  • Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Has taken applications through review, release and the first weeks of live use.
  • Opinionated about mobile. Will say so when a design fights the platform.
  • Suited to early stage. Comfortable deciding on incomplete information and revisiting it later.

What We Offer

  • A greenfield mobile build with real ownership, on a product going to market this year.
  • A delivery team spanning UX, Data, AI, Dev Ops, Backend, Frontend, Infrastructure & Security and QA, so you are not the only engineer in the room.
  • Hybrid working from London, permanent or contract.
  • Equal Opportunity Statement

We are committed to diversity and inclusivity. We welcome applications from every background and will make reasonable adjustments at any stage of the process on request.

How to prepare for a job interview at Rainmaker Ai

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Rainmaker Ai uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
