Rainham Steel is looking for a Lead Maintenance Engineer to join the team!
Location: Rainham Steel Co Ltd, Althorpe Wharf, North Lincolnshire, DN15 8XF
Salary: Hourly rate from £17.50 - £20.00 p/h depending on experience
Basic working hours: 6am - 15.30pm, 42.5 hours per week

Lead Maintenance Engineer - The Role:
- We are seeking a proactive Lead Maintenance Engineer to lead, coordinate, and continually improve all mechanical and electrical maintenance activities across our Althorpe Wharf site.
- The role is hands-on but also requires planning, prevention, and reliability.
- You will be responsible for ensuring all plant and equipment operate safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.
- Strong technical judgement, structured maintenance planning, and clear communication with operators, contractors, and management are essential.
Lead Maintenance Engineer - Responsibilities:
- Attend urgent faults, diagnose issues, and restore equipment safely and efficiently.
- Work closely with machine operators to understand issues, gather feedback, and prevent recurring faults.
- Liaise with contractors, OEM engineers, and suppliers to arrange repairs, servicing, and technical support.
- Maintain knowledge of rebar machines to ensure correct servicing and safe operations.
- Ensure all maintenance activities follow safe systems of work, lock-out procedures, and PPE rules.
- Maintain accurate logs of maintenance actions, inspections, and corrective measures.
- Identify opportunities to improve reliability, reduce downtime, and enhance equipment performance.
- Provide guidance to operators and support staff on basic maintenance and safe machine use.
- Report directly to the Site Manager, providing updates on equipment status, risks, and planned works.
Lead Maintenance Engineer - Requirements:
- Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance skills.
- Experience maintaining industrial machinery.
- Flexible to do paid overtime when necessary.
- Must have a good command of the English language.
- Experience with Schnell rebar machines (desirable).
- Previous maintenance leadership or coordination experience (desirable).
- Experience implementing preventative maintenance systems (desirable).
- Record of improving equipment reliability or reducing downtime (desirable).
