The Technical Delivery Manager is accountable for leading the successful delivery of complex technology initiatives, from strategy and planning through to execution and handover. This role combines project and programme management expertise with a strong understanding of Agile delivery methods to ensure high-quality, timely, and cost-effective outcomes. The Technical Delivery Manager works closely with senior stakeholders, cross‐functional delivery teams, and third parties to manage scope, resources, risks, and dependencies across the full delivery lifecycle.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Planning and Roadmaps
- Integrated Delivery Plan – Provide consolidated delivery plans showing timelines, milestones, and dependencies across the Common Components and consuming delivery teams that you have been assigned to.
- Quarterly Roadmaps – Provide forward looking view of delivery priorities, releases and alignment with organisational objectives.
- Dependency Mapping – Provide clear documentation of inter‐team and inter‐system dependencies.
- Governance and Reporting
- Delivery Dashboards and Reporting – Provide weekly update status reports to include velocity, burn‐down, risks, issues, blockers and metrics as associated to the Delivery squad/s and current workload.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Use Jira and Confluence extensively for backlog management, sprint tracking, documentation, and portfolio reporting.
- Support and contribute to delivery governance frameworks, steering committees, and assurance reviews.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Produce Stakeholder Maps – Identification of key stakeholders, influences and interests into the projects or programmes that the Delivery Teams are working on at the time.
- Act as a mediator in resolving conflicts between stakeholders, teams ensuring that issues are addressed swiftly, and solutions are aligned with the overall goals and timelines.
- Accountability & Continuous Improvement
- Foster a culture of accountability where team members take ownership and quality of their work and deliverables.
- Hold regular retrospectives and agile ceremonies to support ongoing Delivery improvement and continuously support a culture of refined ways of working and process improvement that assure consistent Delivery throughput.
- Act as a key escalation point for project challenges ensuring swift resolution and minimal impact on timelines.
- Analyze Delivery performance and provide recommendations to ensure delivery utilising metrics and insight reporting such as velocity, throughput, and predictability.
- Delivery Management (Agile, Scaled Agile & Waterfall)
- Lead the delivery of SaaS, Common Components and solutions being developed using Agile or the appropriate methodology fitted towards the delivery objectives.
- Ways of working guide – Document standards and processes (ceremonies, tools, governance routines) for delivery teams interacting across Common Components.
- Onboarding – Offer and document clear guidelines for consuming common components (integration guidance, delivery engagement model, key contacts, etc.).
- Delivery Playbooks – Contribute to producing in line with the Delivery Teams playbooks for handling dependencies, prioritisation and integration testing across multiple teams.
- Lead multiple squads through daily stand‐ups, ensuring blockers are removed, escalations are raised appropriately and support the technical lead and product owner to deliver against a prioritised backlog.
- Knowledge Management
- Delivery Wiki / Confluence Pages – Set up and monitor, ensuring adoption by Delivery Teams, a centralised repository of delivery artefacts.
- Release Notes / Delivery Notes – Ensure documentation is logged in the above location to support what has been delivered and by whom and when.
- Delivery Decision Log – Record key delivery and governance decisions with context and rationale.
- Work closely with Product and Tech teams to deliver solution on time and on budget.
- Coordinate across multiple delivery teams and projects to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
- Step into in‐flight projects and change initiatives as needed to troubleshoot, recover timelines, or support at‐risk initiatives.
- Mentor and guide junior delivery managers, fostering a strong culture of continuous improvement and learning.
- Encourage best practice adoption and coach teams through Agile ceremonies, and blended models.
What We Are Looking For:
- Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Desired Agile delivery certification(s) such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM).
- Desired Project Management certifications.
- Desired Cloud or DevOps awareness (e.g., AWS Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals).
- Project & Programme Delivery – Proven ability to lead complex technical deliveries end‐to‐end across multiple workstreams or a portfolio.
- Agile Tooling – Advanced proficiency in Jira and Confluence for sprint planning, backlog management, reporting, and documentation.
- Strong Vendor management skills – Proven experience managing external suppliers and delivery partners.
- Stakeholder Engagement – Skilled in influencing and managing stakeholders at all levels, from developers to C‐level executives.
- Facilitation & Communication – Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead ceremonies, workshops, and senior‐level meetings.
- Analytical Thinking – Ability to interpret delivery data, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement through evidence‐based insights.
- Mentoring & Leadership – Experienced in coaching junior delivery staff and supporting capability uplift within the team.
