This is an excellent hybrid opportunity for an experienced and capable MEP Designer to join an industry leading fit-out contractor. Our client provides a range of resources and solutions to a whole host of blue-chip clients across the retail, banking, hospitality and commercial sectors.

The MEP Designer is responsible for the design development, coordination and technical delivery of mechanical, electrical and public health services across commercial fit-out projects. The MEP Designer supports projects from early concept through to construction and handover, producing coordinated and compliant MEP design information using AutoCAD and Revit, while working closely with internal teams, consultants, and supply chain partners.

The MEP Designer will operate within a highly governed and regulated client environment, ensuring alignment with the company’s own standards and the client’s technical requirements. Suitable candidates will have proven experience of working as an MEP Designer on commercial (ideally retail, better still banking) fit-out projects and will have strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit. Further, they will be well versed in producing coordinated mechanical and electrical design information and have a good understanding of Building Regulations and services compliance.

In return, the company offers a very competitive salary and benefits package, as well as the opportunity to contribute and thrive in a positive and progressive, professional environment.

A Sample of Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop mechanical, electrical, and public health design solutions in response to client briefs, technical standards, and project constraints.
  • Produce coordinated MEP layouts, schematics, and detailed design information across all relevant project stages.
  • Ensure designs support operational requirements, energy efficiency, buildability, and maintainability.
  • Produce, develop, and maintain accurate AutoCAD and Revit models and drawings in line with company and client BIM/drawing standards.
  • Coordinate MEP design information with architectural, structural, and specialist trade inputs.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Designers, and consultants to ensure coordinated and buildable MEP solutions.
  • Ensure MEP designs comply with Building Regulations, Approved Documents (including Parts L, F, O, and B where applicable), relevant British Standards, and client technical standards.
  • Support delivery in line with the Building Safety Act 2022, maintaining accurate and traceable design information.
  • Contribute to the “golden thread” of information through clear documentation, change tracking, and approvals.
  • Support design assurance reviews and statutory approvals at key project stages.
  • Support client design reviews, technical workshops, and approval processes.
  • Respond to design comments and changes in line with client governance and change control procedures.
  • Ensure MEP design information is suitable for delivery within live, secure, and operational banking environments.
  • Provide ongoing design support during construction, including responses to RFIs and site queries.
  • Attend site meetings and inspections as required, to support coordination and delivery.
  • Ensure MEP designs consider health, safety, and operational risks, particularly in live or occupied environments.
