Rainbox Fundraising Lead — Award-Winning Water-Tech
Location: Mostly remote (UK but international considered), with occasional meetings in Bristol & London
Hours: Flexible working hours
Ways of working: Outcomes-focused; self-managed; collaborative
About RainBox
RainBox is an award-winning, one-year-old startup tackling water scarcity with modular, solar-powered systems that purify and recycle water for emergency provision, off-grid communities, agriculture, households, and municipal/grey-water networks. The need is immediate and global; our technology addresses safety, resilience and cost. We’re a right-place, right-time solution: we’ve already won 2 of our first 3 grants/competitions (others pending), we have many eligible grants and prizes to pursue, and we’re preparing for B Corp certification to lock in mission and standards as we scale. We’ve operated in “stealth mode” while developing our core technology and partnerships, but that’s about to change.
The Team You’ll Join
- World-class team working in a focused, collaborative environment
- 4 PhDs (core team + consultants) across thermodynamics, computational modelling and sustainable engineering
- 6 former Dyson engineers covering design, prototyping and productisation
- Global advisors at the top of their fields: MEP/grey-water systems, optics, international deployment, market & finance
The Opportunity
- Strong core technology with a clear, validated need
- A broad set of grants, prizes, philanthropic funders and investor networks to engage
- Rich technical content, validated claims and high-quality graphics — no need to start from scratch
What You’ll Do
- Lead and win grants, prizes and philanthropic funding; cultivate investor and partner-network relationships
- Own the process end-to-end: prospecting, qualification, drafting, submission, follow-up and diligence
- Work closely with the team to deliver credible, compelling proposals with strong technical/scientific input
- Manage ongoing funding activity: maintain active opportunities, progress them to decision, and report outcomes clearly
- Represent RainBox to funders with clarity, warmth and professionalism
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in fundraising, development or investor relations (startup, non-profit or impact)
- Demonstrable success securing grants, philanthropy or investment
- Excellent writing and relationship skills; a collaborative, easy-to-work-with teammate
- Purpose-driven and energising — you’re inspired by (and can inspire others with) practical solutions for water access and climate resilience
Does this light you up? If the mission energises you and you enjoy working with good people on meaningful problems, you’ll fit right in.
Offer & Structure
We’re early-stage, so the role begins on commission while we validate fit and traction together, then transitions to base + commission.
- Months 0–3 (commission-only):
- 12% commission on funds secured through grants and prizes (a lower rate applies for philanthropy and investor funding)
- After Month 3 (conversion):
- If success rate is ≥40%, move to £40,000 base (pro-rata) + 7% commission on grants and prizes (lower rate for philanthropy/investors)
- Working pattern: Mostly remote, flexible hours, with occasional meetings in Bristol and London. The role is self-managed with clear OKRs and supportive, cross-functional collaboration.
Why RainBox (it’s more than a job)
- Save lives, build climate resilience, and keep children — particularly girls — in school
- Unlock grey-water recycling as a core solution for water-stressed cities
- Deliver clean, reliable water for emergency use, off-grid communities, agriculture, homes, and municipal systems
If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
