Rainbows provides expert end‑of‑life and palliative care for babies, children and young people at our hospice, at home or in hospital – supporting families across Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire. Last year we supported around 1,000 babies, children and young people, and approximately 3,000 family members, including families, siblings and carers.
We’re excited to announce an opportunity for an Events Coordinator to join our Events Team who organise a variety of fundraising and supporter events to help fund Rainbows’ services!
Working Hours and Location
This is a full‑time role of 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, based at our Hospice in Lark Rise, Loughborough. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required to support events.

About the Role
Your main responsibility will be to support the Senior Events Officer in delivering fundraising and awareness‑raising events and to help coordinate our established programme of events, including the Derby Cathedral Abseil, Santa Run and Skydive, while contributing to the development of new opportunities and experiences for supporters.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Assist the Senior Events Officer in planning and executing a range of events to meet or exceed income and engagement targets while carefully managing expenditure to achieve return‑on‑investment.
- Coordinate and deliver engaging supporter journeys for event participants, ensuring they receive timely information, feel supported throughout their fundraising journey and have a positive experience from registration to event day.
- Maintain accurate financial, participant and key performance indicator records for events; support the Senior Events Officer in monitoring event performance and producing detailed reports as required.
- Coordinate with suppliers, colleagues and volunteers to ensure income is maximised, expenses are minimised and budgets are met, contributing to the delivery of Rainbows‑hosted and third‑party events.
- Assist in promoting events by collaborating with the Marketing, Corporate and Community Fundraising teams to ensure participation targets are achieved.
- Conduct comprehensive event risk assessments and implement plans to mitigate and manage identified risks, escalating concerns to the Senior Events Officer when necessary.
About You
- Experience in planning and organising events.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities to meet objectives.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and using a CRM database.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and administrative expertise.
- A valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel within the region as needed.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
This role is subject to a Standard DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) and pre‑employment checks.
