At Rainbows Children’s Hospice, we provide specialist palliative and end‑of‑life care to over 750 babies, children, and young people with life‑limiting conditions, and support around 3,000 family members across the East Midlands. We’re here to brighten short lives and support families wherever they are.

We are recruiting a full‑time Band 5 Rotational Nurse to join our Clinical Team, working across both our Hospice at Home and Hospice Care Teams on a permanent 6‑month rotation. For 6 months, you will deliver care in the community, supporting children and young people in their homes, providing short breaks and support to families. For the following 6 months, you will work within the hospice, delivering high‑quality, family‑led care in a specialist setting. This rotation then repeats, giving you a unique opportunity to build a wide-ranging skill set in children’s palliative care across both home and hospice environments, supported by a knowledgeable and collaborative multidisciplinary team.

Hospice at Home – Location & Hours
Based at the hospice, with travel across the East Midlands (Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire). A full UK driving licence is essential. 37.5 hours per week, rota between Monday‑Sunday, 8:00am‑6:00pm.

Hospice Care Team – Location & Hours
Rainbows Hospice, Lark Rise, Loughborough, LE11 2HS. 37.5 hours per week, rota includes:
Long days: 7:30am‑8:00pm
Nights: 7:30pm‑8:00am
Short shifts: 7:30am‑3:30pm or 1:30pm‑9:30pm

About The Role
Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Band 6 Deputy Lead Nurse in planning and delivering care
  • Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care in partnership with children and families
  • Providing high‑quality short break, palliative and end‑of‑life care in both hospice and home settings

Essential Requirements
Post‑registration experience as a Band 5 Nurse
Experience working with children/young people (0‑19) with complex needs
Ability to deliver a high standard of clinical care

Desirable
Experience in children’s palliative or end‑of‑life care
Community or lone working experience
Mentorship or preceptorship qualification

Preceptorship is not available for this role. This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check and pre‑employment screening.
