Salary: £57,528 to £64,750 per annum

Location: Lark Rise, Loughborough.

Rainbows Children’s Hospice provides specialist palliative care and end‑of‑life support to over 750 babies, children, and young people living with life‑shortening and life‑threatening conditions, and approximately 3,000 families and carers across the East Midlands. We aim to brighten short lives and support families wherever they are.

We are seeking an exceptional and organised ACP to join our dedicated Specialist Palliative care team at Rainbows Children’s Hospice, covering all five counties of the East Midlands: hospice, hospital, and community. In this vital role, you will provide advanced clinical expertise, contribute to symptom management, lead on end‑of‑life care, and work closely with families to ensure the best quality of care for babies, children, and young people in our care. You will also support the Lead Advanced Clinical Practitioner in managing, leading, and introducing new services within the hospice and manage a team of CNSs and unregistered professionals. This role will be between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., on a rota covering seven days a week. You will be required to be on the on‑call rota.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead nursing responsibility for a defined caseload of babies, children, and young people with palliative and end‑of‑life care needs within the hospice, hospital, and community.
  • Be an independent prescriber and support the prescribing/transcribing process.
  • Professionally support staff within the hospice, hospital, and community to ensure that children's needs are assessed, care planned, implemented, and evaluated, and that there is consultation and involvement of children, parents, and carers.
  • Liaise with staff and services within the hospital (both paediatrics and neonates) to identify and facilitate transfer plans and ongoing care needs of babies, children, and young people.
  • Be a member of the senior nursing team, demonstrating effective leadership skills and taking part in the on‑call rota.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualifications: Advanced Clinical Practitioner and/or MSc; current registration with NMC, HCPC, or GPC; non‑medical prescriber; history taking and clinical examination qualification.
  • Experience: Significant post‑registration paediatric palliative care experience; demonstrable track record working with a paediatric/neonatal client base, managing assessment, treatment, and discharge of patients; ability to work in partnership with health, social care, and education professionals.
  • Excellent communication skills – ability to engage verbally and in writing with team members, nurses, and families in a sensitive and professional manner, and manage challenging conversations effectively and with compassion.
  • Effective organisational skills – strong ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing demands within a fast‑paced care environment.
