Overview

Due to the expansion of our Hospice at Home team, we are currently seeking two Hospice at Home Care Assistants to support our nurses on home visits. As a Hospice at Home Care Assistant, you will be an integral part of Rainbows\' Hospice at Home Team, delivering high-quality clinical care to babies, children, and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions in the comfort of their own homes. Your role will include supporting families by providing respite care and emotional support, as well as assisting in the delivery of palliative and end-of-life care. This is a truly meaningful position where you will make a real difference to the lives of families at the most difficult times, working closely with our nursing team to ensure compassionate, person-centred care. Within this role you will receive on the job training, working alongside an experienced Nurse, learning clinical skills as well as non-clinical skills of memory making, providing families with keepsakes of their baby, child or young person.

Responsibilities

  • Support nurses on home visits and provide high-quality clinical care to babies, children, and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions in the home setting.
  • Provide respite care and emotional support to families.
  • Assist in the delivery of palliative and end-of-life care as part of the Hospice at Home team.
  • Work closely with the nursing team to ensure compassionate, person-centred care.
  • Receive on-the-job training and develop both clinical and non-clinical skills, including memory making and providing keepsakes for families.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Experience working with babies, children, or young people with complex needs.
  • Desire to start or develop a career in health care in a rewarding role where no two days are the same.
  • NVQ in care (if required by role).
