Family Support Worker – Full‑time (35 hours, 5 days per week) within the South West Care Team.
We are looking to appoint a Family Support Worker to deliver a high‑quality family support service as part of our South West Care Team to families in the local area, at a time when they need it most.
The role reports to the Family Support Manager and works in partnership with health, education and social care professionals.
Responsibilities
- Provide needs‑led emotional, social and practical support to families where a child or young person has a life‑threatening or terminal illness.
- Manage your own schedule, remaining flexible to the needs of families on your caseload.
- Build supportive relationships and help people as they deal with grief, loss and change.
- Provide bereavement support and maintain knowledge of processes of grief, loss and change.
- Use child protection and information‑sharing rules and data protection guidelines to support families.
- Work collaboratively with the team and volunteers, ensuring delivery of a high‑quality service.
- Support fundraising colleagues by writing case studies and family updates.
- Use IT (including MSOffice) confidently and maintain accuracy.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experienced child health, education or social care professional.
- Working in a community environment, with a recognised qualification in education, health or social care.
- Practical and people‑oriented, able to work at a fast pace whilst maintaining accuracy.
- Persuasive and open communication skills.
- Practical knowledge of diversity issues affecting children, young people and their families.
- Full current driver’s licence and willingness to work flexible hours.
- Enhanced DBS disclosure required.

- Company car (P11D value £23,000‑26,000; taxable benefit in kind £6‑8K).
