Rainbow Plants Ltd is a well established wholesale plant nursery based in Devon. We supply a wide range of high quality plants to garden centres, landscapers, retailers, and other trade customers across the South West and beyond. We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service, product quality, and strong relationships within the horticultural industry.
We are looking for a motivated, organised, and customer focused individual to join our team in a key hybrid role. The Sales and Office Administrator will provide vital support to the office and sales team, combining daily administrative duties with proactive customer service and sales activities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety in their workday and has a genuine interest in helping a business grow.
Key Responsibilities- Provide general administrative support to the office team, including data entry, filing, order processing, and correspondence.
- Handle daily customer enquiries via phone, email, and in person, delivering friendly and professional service at all times.
- Operate and maintain the back-office system (GrowMaster) to process orders, update records, manage stock information, and generate reports.
- Proactively contact existing customers to build relationships, take orders, and maximise sales opportunities.
- Identify and reach out to potential new customers to expand the customer base.
- Visit customers (local and regional) when required, presenting our current availability lists and ‘Looking Good’ lists to generate leads and secure sales.
- Support the preparation and distribution of plant availability information to the trade.
- Work closely with the nursery production and despatch teams to ensure accurate and timely fulfilment of customer orders.
- Help maintain accurate customer records and sales data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service focus and a friendly, professional approach.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Outlook, Word, and Excel).
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to visit customers.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team.
- Enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
- Previous experience in sales administration, customer service, or an office-based role.
- Familiarity with horticulture, plants, or the garden retail sector.
- Experience using GrowMaster or similar nursery/ERP software.
