  • 38-hour full time contract, across 4 days per week.
  • Open from 7:30am-6:00pm with varying shifs to support operations of the nursery.
  • Part time available.
  • All year round, closed on all bank holidays.
  • School hours: 10am-2pm available.

Main Responsibilities

  • To ensure a high level of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children in the nursery.

  • To ensure the principles of EYFS are implemented.

  • To give support to other personnel within the nursery, and work as a co-operating team

    member.

  • To maintain a respectful attitude towards management and being always respectful towards

    all staff members, children and parents.

  • To implement the daily routine of the room in which you are placed.

  • To be committed to taking up training opportunities to further develop your role.

    Main Duties

  • Contribute to the creation of a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for all children.

  • Take part in the keeping of records and ensure they are filed away correctly.

  • Be aware of policies and procedures and ensure that they are adhered to.

  • Reflect on practice and routines and ensure they meet the needs of individual children.

  • Work alongside children and parents of SEN children to achieve full integration within the nursery.

  • Plan effectively for individual key children, ensuring assessments are clear, up to date and shared with parents – must be completed on time.

  • Support other staff and contribute to a positive team.

  • Work in partnership with parents and carers, building and maintaining positive relationships and interactions that open effective communication and involve parents/carers in nursery life.

  • Liaise with outside agencies and other professionals where required.

  • Attend general staff meetings and appraisals which may be out of hours.

  • Undertake any necessary domestic duties within the nursery such as the preparation of snacks or cleaning duties.

  • Guide and support training students

  • Staff may be required to collect children from school as this forms part of the service we provide.

  • To follow instructions from management even if they differ from personal preferences, trusting their overview of the nursery’s needs.

  • Prioritising Whole-Nursery Needs Over Room Loyalty.
  • Staffing is fluid in our small setting. You may be moved between Baby, Toddler, or Pre-School

    rooms on any day to maintain legal ratios. This is not punishment—it's to keep operations

    running and with a temporary objective.

    To not refuse tasks outside your usual room (e.g., nappy changing if covering Babies or

    toddlers).

    To support struggling rooms without hesitation — e.g., staying late in Pre-School if a

    colleague is sick, or to help tidy the room at the end of the day in order for all staff to leave on

    time, even if you are based in a different room.

    To share resources fairly and with care and respect (toys, iPads, outdoor equipment) and

    return them after use.

    To be willing to cover breaks, lunches, and sickness across any room as directed,

    understanding that one absent staff member impacts the entire nursery.

  • To not leave a room under-ratio to prioritise your morning or afternoon break, as these breaks

    are provided as a courtesy by the company, whereas children’s safety must always come

    first.

    To keep confidential discussions (e.g., staff shortages, parent complaints) private and not fuel

    gossip.

    Qualities and relevant experience

    Minimum qualification is level 2 in Childcare.

    Rainbow House has a commitment to staff training and aims to have all staff at N.N.E.B.level or equivalent plus (National Nursery Examination Board Level 3 childcare qualification) with some previous experience working in a day nursery.

    You will be expected to attend various relevant training courses throughout the year these may be outside normal work hours and held at various locations around Liverpool.

    WORK PATTERN

    Working patterns may be flexible to suit the needs of the nursery/room, you will be given contracted hours.

    Part- time staff are expected to work extra hours if necessary.You may be asked to take on special duties such as helping to open the nursery or overall responsibility for a room, this may be temporary or rotational.
