We have an incredible opportunity for a Workday Functional Specialist (Accounting Centre) to join our Finance team on a permanent basis, based in Darlington or London (hybrid working). Railpen is responsible for the safekeeping and investment of around £34 billion in assets and the administration of several pension schemes, including the Railways Pension Scheme, one of the UK's largest and longest established pension funds.
The role involves taking ownership of the configuration, maintenance, and ongoing support of Workday Accounting Centre (WAC). You will ensure the accurate and efficient ingestion and transformation of financial data from source systems into Workday, enabling clean journal creation, transparency, and high‑quality downstream financial reporting. Responsibilities include:
- Designing and maintaining data transformation rules for journal creation, enrichment, and classification.
- Configuring key WAC components such as accounting rules, source mappings, validation rules, and journaling logic.
- Troubleshooting issues with inbound data loads and journal creation.
- Collaborating with IT teams to resolve data feed errors.
- Ensuring seamless, reliable data integration across the organisation.

We are looking for a proactive and detail‑driven individual with experience working with Workday Financials, including hands‑on expertise in Workday Accounting Centre. You will have a good understanding of core accounting principles, financial data structures, and journal entry processing. Key skills include:
