Who we are
Railpen is responsible for the safekeeping and investment of around £34 billion in assets and the administration of several pension schemes, including the Railways Pension Scheme, one of the UK's largest and longest established pension funds. Our heritage of looking after the pension needs of the rail industry and its employees gives us our name and our unique outlook on how we serve our members. Railpen takes a holistic view, focusing on how we serve members today and how we can positively impact the communities and the world they will retire into.
The Role
As a Risk Framework Analyst working on the General Code of Practice (GCOP) regulatory project, you will support the Risk Frameworks team in delivering the Own Risk Assessment (ORA) and Enterprise Risk priorities for the Trustee. You will also assist in the development of Enterprise Risk priorities, including the Enterprise Risk Framework, Policy and Directive, Scheme Risk Register, and Internal Controls. You will also support the delivery of the controls element of the Effective System of Governance (ESOG) and perform the ORA as part of the GCOP project. Ensuring timely and accurate delivery of ORA activities in line with the agreed schedule will be a key part of your role.
The Person
We’re looking for someone with a strong understanding of risk frameworks, governance, and compliance requirements, combined with experience in enterprise risk management and internal controls. A proactive, detail-oriented approach and the ability to work independently are essential. Collaboration is essential, as you will work closely with external consultants, Change & Transformation teams, and subject matter experts to keep the project on track and aligned with requirements. You may also be asked to carry out other duties as reasonably requested.
You’ll champion our values by influencing and communicating effectively to support decision‑making, collaborating openly with risk peers and business units to share best practices, and acting as a role model for accountability and reliability, ensuring excellence in policy and governance. Our values of integrity, community and alignment are the guiding principles that influence our behaviour. They help us make decisions and shape our relationships with others. They’re what we stand for. You will actively demonstrate our values, helping to create a safe environment, to place the needs of the community above oneself and, through a culture of ‘fair challenge’, align to the best interests of our members.
