We’re looking for a Quality Manager to join our Assurance & Standards team on a permanent basis, working hybrid from our Darlington office.
Who we are
Railpen is responsible for the safekeeping and investment of around £34 billion in assets and the administration of several pension schemes, including the Railways Pension Scheme, one of the UK's largest and longest established pension funds. Our heritage of looking after the pension needs of the rail industry and its employees gives us our name and our unique outlook on how we serve our members. Railpen takes a holistic view, focusing on how we serve members today and how we can positively impact the communities and the world they will retire into.
The role
The Quality Manager plays a key role within our Assurance & Standards team, leading the development and delivery of a robust quality framework that underpins excellent outcomes for members. The role shapes standards, monitors performance, and provides independent assurance across Member Services, ensuring processes are effective, well‑controlled, and aligned to organisational objectives. It brings together insight, risk awareness, and continuous improvement to strengthen how Member Services operates, while supporting leaders through clear reporting, meaningful analysis, and collaborative problem‑solving. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.
The person
Bringing significant experience in quality assurance within financial services or another regulated, service‑led environment, you’re confident working with quality management principles, established frameworks, and in line with ISO quality standard principles. Your background is rooted in process, control and outcome‑based quality rather than manufacturing or product testing. Making sense of complex information and turning it into clear, practical insight comes naturally, helping others do their best work. Influencing happens without fuss, supported by thoughtful questions, steady judgement and constructive challenge when it matters. There’s confidence in guiding, coaching and developing people, especially through change, and an instinct for creating the conditions where teams can succeed. Above all, there’s a strong commitment to fairness, consistency, and doing the right thing for members. Our values of integrity, community and alignment are the guiding principles that influence our behaviour. They help us make decisions and shape our relationships with others. They’re what we stand for. You will actively demonstrate our values, helping to create a safe environment, to place the needs of the community above oneself and, through a culture of ‘fair challenge’, align to the best interests of our members.

- A competitive salary (depending on experience)
- 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays
