We are looking for a Fund Accountant to join our Fund Operations team on a 15 month fixed-term contract in a hybrid role based in London.
Railpen is responsible for the safekeeping and investment of around £34 billion in assets and the administration of several pension schemes, including the Railways Pension Scheme, one of the UK's largest and longest established pension funds. Our heritage of looking after the pension needs of the rail industry and its employees gives us our name and our unique outlook on how we serve our members. Railpen takes a holistic view, focusing on how we serve members today and how we can positively impact the communities and the world they will retire into.
This role delivers accurate, timely fund accounting and financial reporting for Railpen's Private Markets investment entities, supported by robust oversight of Operating Partners and Third Party Administrators. Responsibilities include performing the daily NAV review in line with relevant accounting standards and internal procedures, and ensuring the completeness, accuracy, and quality of data within the MSCI investment portfolio management system. This underpins high quality data for internal and external stakeholders and supports both the Investment and Fiduciary functions across Railpen.
This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.
The successful candidate will be required to have a good understanding of private equity investment accounting. The candidate will bring technical expertise, particularly in private markets, and ideally have experience working within either a fund administrator or asset management environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for financial reporting and have excellent Excel capability-including pivot tables, lookups and building data-driven models-to support robust analysis and insight. A qualification in either ICAEW or ACCA would be a distinct advantage, however this isn’t essential.
We are looking for a proactive self-starter-highly motivated, organised, and able to flex priorities when business needs shift. As a Fund Accountant, you will have an analytical mindset and excellent communication skills to enable you to interpret complex data, constructively challenge and provide clarity to stakeholders. You will thrive in a collaborative culture, bring a sense of accountability, and look to actively embody our values. Through your approach, you help create a safe, inclusive environment and ensure our members' best interests remain at the heart of everything you do.
Our values of integrity, community and alignment are the guiding principles that influence our behaviour. They help us make decisions and shape our relationships with others. They’re what we stand for. You will actively demonstrate our values, helping to create a safe environment, to place the needs of the community above oneself and, through a culture of 'fair challenge', align to the best interests of our members.
What we can offer you:
- A competitive salary
- 28 days annual leave, plus bank holidays
- Defined Contribution pension
- Employee assistance programme
- Health cash plan
- Eye care vouchers
- Flu vaccination
- Give as you earn scheme
- Paid volunteering days
