Who we are
Railpen is responsible for the safekeeping and investment of around £34 billion in assets and the administration of several pension schemes, including the Railways Pension Scheme, one of the UK's largest and longest established pension funds. Our heritage of looking after the pension needs of the rail industry and its employees gives us our name and our unique outlook on how we serve our members. The Role
Within the Financial Crime team, this role plays a key part in supporting Railpen’s commitment to maintaining a robust and effective anti-financial crime framework. Working closely with colleagues across the function, you will contribute to protecting the business and its members from financial crime risks, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements. You will report to the Financial Crime Manager and support the Financial Crime team by acting as a first point of contact for queries into the team, ensuring they are managed efficiently and responded to in a timely and professional manner. This is an excellent opportunity to build experience within financial crime, working as part of a collaborative and purpose-driven team while gaining exposure to a broad range of activities spanning monitoring, due diligence, and stakeholder support.
The Person
We’re looking for someone with relevant experience of working within a financial crime, AML, fraud, or wider compliance role, or equivalent relevant experience, who brings a sound, working knowledge of UK AML/CTF requirements and customer due diligence principles. You will have a basic understanding of fraud and suspicious activity indicators, alongside exposure to areas such as transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, PEPs, or adverse media alerts. You will be analytical in your approach, with strong research skills and excellent attention to detail, able to assess information and maintain accuracy in your work. Confidence in managing multiple priorities, organising your workload effectively, and meeting deadlines is essential. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are key, as you will be engaging with a range of stakeholders and handling queries in a clear and professional manner. You will also be comfortable using tools such as Microsoft Outlook and Excel, and have a familiarity with UK customer onboarding processes, including AML and KYC requirements.
