Who we are
Railpen is responsible for the safekeeping and investment of around £34 billion in assets and the administration of several pension schemes, including the Railways Pension Scheme, one of the UK's largest and longest established pension funds. Our heritage of looking after the pension needs of the rail industry and personnel employees gives us our name and our unique outlook on how we serve our members. Railpen takes a holistic view, focusing on how we serve members today and how we can positively impact the communities and the world they will retire into.
The Role
As a Business Analyst, you will be a valued member of the Change & Transformation team, providing detailed, accurate, and timely analysis across a broad range of projects within the C&T portfolio and in accordance with the Change and Project Management Framework. You’ll deliver in-depth analysis of business activities, processes, and data to support successful project outcomes, ensuring business requirements are well defined and documented throughout the project lifecycle. Acting as a key link between technical teams and business stakeholders, you’ll translate requirements, advise on testing, and keep stakeholders fully engaged from initiation to delivery. You’ll contribute to all relevant project documents, help establish consistent ways of working, and play a vital role in driving change and transformation across the organisation.
This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.
The Person
You’ll have a strong background in business and process analysis, ideally gained across a range of projects within Change & Transformation. You will bring in-depth knowledge of industry standards, excellent organisational and time management skills, and a proven ability to translate business requirements for technical teams and explain technical solutions to business stakeholders. Experience in financial services, investment products, or pensions is highly relevant, and you will be comfortable producing high-quality project documentation and supporting activities. You will also demonstrate outstanding behaviours and softer skills, including a collaborative approach to teamwork, clear and effective communication with stakeholders at all levels, and a genuine motivation to solve complex business problems. You will be proactive in building relationships, professionally challenging current processes to support pragmatic solutions, and maintaining high standards for detail and accuracy. Your ability to work at pace, manage multiple priorities, and take ownership of your deliverables will be key to your success in this role.
Our values of integrity, community and alignment are the guiding principles that influence our behaviour. They help us make decisions and shape our relationships with others. They’re what we stand for. You will actively demonstrate our values, helping to create a safe environment, to place the needs of the community above oneself and, through a culture of ‘fair challenge’, align to the best interests of our members.
