An exciting opportunity to join our Fundamental Equities team as an Investment Manager on a fixed term basis (up to 9 months) based in our London office (hybrid working).
About Railpen: Railpen is responsible for the safekeeping and investment of around £34 billion in assets and the administration of several pension schemes, including the Railways Pension Scheme. We aim to serve members today and positively impact the communities and the world they will retire into.
Role: The Fundamental Equities team manages a concentrated, high-conviction, low-turnover portfolio with quality growth characteristics. We focus on companies with high barriers to entry and sustainable competitive advantages that benefit from structural growth trends and can adapt to and capitalise on a rapidly changing market environment. As a technology sector Investment Manager, you will perform fundamental research on companies, including creating research notes and financial models, whilst proactively seeking out new investments and managing a watch list of stocks. The role will be responsible for analysing and recommending investments in the semiconductor and technology hardware sectors. The team also assists colleagues across Railpen's other strategies, including alternatives, quantitative equities, and real assets.
Responsibilities:
- Perform fundamental research on companies in the technology sector, including creating research notes and financial models.
- Proactively identify and evaluate potential investments and manage a watch list of stocks.
- Analyse and recommend investments in the semiconductor and technology hardware sectors.
- Collaborate with colleagues across Railpen's other strategies when appropriate.
Qualifications and Attributes:
- Experience analysing the global technology sector within equity research on the sell side or buy side.
- Passion for financial markets and investing with an open, collaborative and inquisitive approach to problem solving.
- Ability to deliver high-quality research and generate ideas, with effective communication skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships internally and externally, valuing different perspectives and teamwork.
