What is the purpose of this job?

This role provides project management support to the Train Drivers Academy (TDA) scheme and other People Strategy workstreams. In particular, the role supports subject matter experts who are developing resources and guidance for the industry, to mitigate safety and project risks relating to the lowering of the minimum train driver age.

What can I expect to do in this job?

1. Develop plans to deliver the requirements of projects, in line with industry requirements, so that accountabilities for project activities and outputs are transparent and understood.

2. Identify risks and issues, mitigating them in line with RDG project governance guidelines.

3. Identify stakeholders and develop a plan for appropriate engagement, nurturing relationships to encourage meaningful contributions to project activities and outputs.

4. Manage delivery of projects, in line with the project plan, monitoring and tracking activity in conjunction with those responsible for project activities and outputs.

5. Coordinate and attend project governance meetings and correspondence, providing timely written and verbal reports.

Requirements
What experience, skills and knowledge do I need?
• Experience of projects and programmes management and associated methodology, including the ability to develop, review and implement project procedures, standards and controls, manage project change, as well as to recommend and implement solutions and remedial actions for project issue resolution.
• Ability to work proactively and independently with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work with and influence stakeholders to ensure commitment and alignment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including use of Microsoft 365 applications to create, manage and quality assure engaging documents, run online and in-person meeting, including compiling detailed meeting summaries.
• Analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, working independently and collaboratively to overcome challenges.
• Rail industry experience is desirable, but not essential.
