Salary: £50,786 – £67,422

Contract: Permanent

Location: London – Hybrid (occasional travel to London or Manchester)

About the Role

Project management at RDG is about the balance between driving delivery and being an inspiring leader who forges strong working relationships. As a Project Manager at RDG your role is to work across project and operational teams and a range of industry stakeholders to successfully deliver projects to time, scope and budget with risks and dependencies recognised and managed. This will involve employing both project management tools and techniques and excellent people and communication skills.

A Project manager is required to deliver the project or projects, initially, within ongoing Retail and Station Enhancements Programme funded by the Department for Transport. This programme and its constituent projects focus on a variety of improvements for our passengers, creating a better passenger experience at stations, thus adding value and making a positive difference to the society.

Key Responsibilities

This is not an exhaustive list, however key responsibilities include:

Working closely with the Retail and Station Enhancements Programme Manager Subject Matter Experts and Supply chain, you can expect to be involved in the following:

  • Planning what work needs to be done, when and who\’s going to do it;
  • Reviewing and managing risks;
  • Being responsible for getting the work done to the right standard;
  • Motivating the team of people involved in the project;
  • Co-ordinating multiple work streams and teams;
  • Ensuring the project is running on time and to budget;
  • Dealing with changes to the project as and when necessary;
  • Ensuring the outcomes and benefits of the project are delivered; and
  • Working to the RDG Project Delivery Framework

Requirements

What We\’re Looking For

We are looking for someone with experience of working as a project manager or similar, demonstrating a strong aptitude for the role and solid relevant knowledge of the subject matter.

Essential Skills & Experience:

Some of the specific skills and knowledge we are looking for include:

  • Knowledge and experience of delivering software upgrades or similar initiatives;
  • Knowledge and experience or demonstrated ability to quickly grasp the technical and non-technical aspects of the scope;
  • Experience of engaging with various stakeholder groups, an ability to relate to people and bring them together;
  • Managing project scope and executing all project management processes within the mandated project management framework;
  • Experience of managing third-party suppliers and coordinating with internal functions, such as QA and service delivery;
  • Experience with project scheduling – both resource and time;
  • Project budget and cost control experience;
  • Managing risk, understanding the risk context and demonstrating a range of risk techniques;
  • Experience in dealing with external resource, including third party contracts and procurement;
  • Solid understanding of a project business case and ability to translate the business case into successful delivery;
  • Experience in project planning, reporting and stakeholder management;
  • Experience and / or qualifications in standard project methodologies e.g. Prince, Agile, Scrum
