Role Overview
The role involves undertaking comprehensive Form F (Wales) assessments of prospective foster carers, from allocation through to presentation at Fostering Panel.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting assessment visits with applicants, household members, adult children and referees
- Completing complex, analytical and evidence-based assessments
- Reviewing statutory checks, references and other relevant information
- Maintaining accurate and confidential assessment records
- Producing Form F reports with professional recommendations
- Attending supervision and midpoint reviews
- Responding to quality assurance feedback
- Attending Fostering Panel to present assessments
- Escalating safeguarding concerns where required
Essential requirements:
- Recognised Social Work qualification
- Current registration with Social Care Wales
- Post-qualifying experience within children's social care
- Experience undertaking complex assessments
- Form F/fostering assessment experience is highly desirable
- Knowledge of fostering, safeguarding, trauma, attachment, safer caring and looked-after children
Important location requirement: Applications are only being accepted from assessors living in Powys or within 10 miles of the Powys border.
