Are you a passionate and creative catering professional? Do you have the ability to inspire and lead for growth? The Nightingale Café within RAF Biggin Hill Museum & Chapel is seeking a Catering Supervisor to lead and develop our food and beverage offer on site, which consists of a popular lunch menu and a brand new breakfast menu. All activities on site help to maintain the Grade II listed St. George's Chapel of Remembrance, and to continue to tell the stories of 'The Few' through our museum. We are seeking an exceptional individual to expand the business to help support these charitable aims. If you like the sound of delivering a busy lunch service; prepping an afternoon tea for group visits; catering for small private functions and contributing to events planning, then this could be the role for you.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the on-site food and beverage offer, including a popular lunch menu and a brand new breakfast menu.
  • Design and prepare daily, seasonal and specials menus; lead the kitchen by example.
  • Manage daily operational procedures of the café: cash handling, till operation, preparing and serving food and drinks, cleaning, and stacking the dishwasher.
  • Handle opening and closing procedures, supervise volunteers, and oversee food ordering.
  • Follow HACCP procedures to ensure the kitchen and café maintain a 5 star food hygiene rating.
  • Ensure customer service is of the highest possible standard.
  • Support group bookings and special events on site; assist the Director and Assistant Director to facilitate bookings and create a welcoming environment to encourage repeat visits and increased visitor footfall, especially during quieter periods.
  • Lead change by extending trading hours and expanding the visitor offer during peak and off-peak periods.

Qualifications

  • Essential Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene
  • At least 2 years of work experience in a commercial kitchen environment
  • Experience of working in a team
  • Desirable Level 3 Food Safety and Hygiene
  • NVQ Level 1 and 2 in Food Preparation and Cooking (or equivalent qualification)
  • Experience gained in a supervisory role within a kitchen environment
