Part Time Cook for Retirement Apartments — RAF Association Rothbury House NE65 7TU
Salary: £12.74 - £13.16 per hour • Hours: 15 hours per week, worked over 2 days – which will involve working every third weekend. Additional hours available.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook for up to 25 tenants, providing a continental breakfast, a 2 course home cooked lunch, and a final light tea.
- Prepare, cook and present meals and refreshments that provide a balanced and wholesome diet to meet varying nutritional requirements and preferences of tenants and visitors.
- Work with favourites such as casseroles, pies, salads and desserts to offer varied meals.
- Assist with maintaining appropriate food hygiene, temperature recording and related documentation.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year’s cooking experience involving preparation, cooking and presentation of high quality meals.
- Up-to-date knowledge of food hygiene procedures, record keeping, temperature recording, etc. Essential for this role.
- Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene certificate (Level 3 qualification is highly desirable).
- Familiar with responsibilities under HASAW and Food Safety Act; understanding of nutritional requirements for people with medical conditions.
- Cheerful personality, engaging manner and a sense of humour; good interaction with tenants on a daily basis.

- A Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) check is required for this role, and every three years thereafter.
