The support the Association offers has been created in direct response to the needs of the RAF community. We pride ourselves on co-creating services based on user experiences and requirements and gather evidence to develop services that make a positive difference. We also know that needs change and, thanks to our research, we are constantly identifying new ways to help those who rely on their support.

As Trusts Officer, you will play a key role in securing funding to sustain and grow essential Group wide welfare, wellbeing, and childcare services. From improving the quality of childcare provided to the Armed Forces community via RAFAKidz, through to the launch of new wellbeing services – the next four years are an exciting time for the RAF Association as we head towards our centenary in 2030.

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Trusts Manager, you will raise income from trusts and foundations to support the RAF Association's ongoing development, with a particular focus on RAFAKidz. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys researching and writing compelling narratives that demonstrate need and impact. We welcome applications from trust fundraisers and other sectors, who are looking to develop and enhance their careers especially if you bring creativity, and strong storytelling skills.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Research and identify potential funders at local, regional, and national levels.
  • Develop and maintain a portfolio of trust fundraising opportunities with a scheduled pipeline of applications.
  • Craft high-quality, persuasive funding proposals that reflect the organisation's needs and impact.
  • Build and nurture relationships with trust and foundation funders, including reporting and stewardship.
  • Collaborate with teams across the charity to gather information and shape costed cases for support.
  • Work with Marketing and Communications teams to highlight the difference funders make.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about making a difference and has:

  • Excellent written communication and storytelling skills – you know how to bring a cause to life on the page.
  • A proactive and organised approach to managing multiple projects or deadlines.
  • A collaborative mindset and an eagerness to grow and develop within a supportive team environment.
  • An understanding of how to research and approach new funding opportunities (or a willingness to learn).
