The Role
As Engineering Support, You Will Participate In All Aspects Of Electrical/electronic Equipment Troubleshooting And Project Execution. Working In a Detail-oriented And Organised Manner, You Provide Technical Diagnosis, Resolution Planning, And Project Support. In Addition, You Will:
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and evaluate electrical/electronic equipment using standard and specialized test equipment
- Inspect failed or problematic equipment, determine root cause, and define a path to resolution
- Read and interpret schematics and blueprints to support troubleshooting and repairs
- Prepare plans of action, bills of materials (BOMs), and time estimates for assigned tasks and projects
- Communicate project status, completions, delays, and escalations to management and relevant personnel
- Research solutions and contribute to process improvements, SOP documentation, and technical training materials
- Support customer site visits for breakdown diagnostics and fault-finding, either accompanying senior engineers or attending independently based on skill level
- Diagnose automation system faults involving PLCs, HMIs, inverters/drives, and control systems across sectors such as pharmaceutical, printing, extrusion, and renewables
About You
Being proficient in electrical and electronic systems troubleshooting, and with strong planning and organisational skills, you will bring your previous engineering or technical support experience to the position, meaning the in-depth training you receive from us will be bolstered by your own knowledge and experience. Furthermore, you will have:
- Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced production environment
- Proven experience in electrical/electronics, mechanical, and/or power transmission fields, with exposure to electrical engineering design principles and methodologies
- Solid knowledge of electrical/electronic components and diagnostic equipment, including experience in electronic system design, repair, and analysis
- High attention to precision and safety, with the ability to work in confined spaces, overhead structures, and around high-voltage equipment while following safe work practices
- Computer proficiency, including MS Office
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative, team-oriented approach
Desirable:
- Experience with computer programming, PLC ladder logic, and familiarity with automation protocols such as CANopen, Profibus, and DeviceNet
- Time-served Electrical or Engineering Apprentice, with completion of a formal apprenticeship and relevant recognised qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or above, BTEC)
