Looking for aspirational male role models to lead 2:1 sessions with young men in Calderdale. Immediate start available. Extensive training and support available throughout the school year. We are an Alternative Provision dedicated to inspiring and empowering the next generation of young people through hands-on learning opportunities.

Are you a youth worker, coach, outdoor specialist, trades person or teacher who can use your skills to design and deliver an interest-led curriculum to complement our own? We currently have full and part-time positions available.

Do you have experience of providing engaging practical sessions with young people but not ready to take on the lead role? We’re also looking for engaging support staff to work alongside lead facilitators to provide a reliable, positive experience for our young people keeping them safe, secure and out of trouble.

We are particularly interested in more accurately representing our wider communities and giving our students the opportunity to see themselves reflected in the teaching staff. We particularly welcome applications from the BAME community and those with neurodiversity.

What we are looking for:

  • Must be able to commit to the role on a regular basis.
  • Strong boundaried relationships based on positivity and respect.

  • Experience session planning and risk assessing activities.
  • Dedication to self-development.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
  • Experience teaching students with ADHD, autism and PDA profile.
  • Understanding of trauma informed de-escalation processes.
  • Able to honestly self-evaluate skills and competency against student needs.

Who are we?

RADS is a new Alternative Provision based in Hebden Bridge and Halifax providing up to 15 hours per week hands-on education to primary and secondary students with barriers to mainstream education. We currently have a tight-knit, diverse team of twelve working across four sites. We provide a semi-structured curriculum of practical skills and employability based learning bespoke to each student. RADS is a no-touch, trauma-informed provision. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check with barred list information is required for all successful candidates. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. We uphold the highest standards of safer recruitment, and all candidates must demonstrate their commitment to child protection.
