We are looking for an experienced Credit Controller to join our team in a fast-paced retail environment. The role will focus on managing customer accounts, ensuring timely payments, and reducing outstanding debts, as well as completing all accounts receivable functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for detail, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy. This is a hybrid role requiring three days a week in our London Service Centre. Our Finance team typically works in the office from Monday to Wednesday, with occasional Thursdays required depending on business needs.
Key responsibilities:- Proactively manage and collect overdue accounts to reduce aged debt.
- Monitor customer accounts for payment trends, ensuring adherence to agreed credit terms.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, addressing payment queries promptly and professionally.
- Review credit applications, assess creditworthiness, and set appropriate credit limits in line with company policies and credit insurance.
- Administer all requirements of the credit insurance policy.
- Accurately process and allocate incoming payments to customer accounts, including coding and posting deductions and commissions.
- Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies or disputes efficiently.
- Prepare monthly aged debtor reports and provide analysis to the Finance Manager.
- Work closely with the sales teams to resolve invoicing or delivery disputes.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all credit control and AR activities in the accounting system.
- Contribute to month-end close activities, including AR reconciliations and adjustments.
- Provide all relevant information for the annual audit and banking audits during the year.
- Maintain accurate and organised financial records, ensuring compliance with company policies and processes.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve finance-related queries.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the finance department.
- Perform ad hoc tasks and projects as required by the Finance Operations Manager.
Proven experience in accounts receivable and credit control is essential. A proactive attitude and a sense of personal accountability are important. Delivering a great Customer Experience (internally and externally) must be second nature to you. Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy are required.
