Based: West Sussex
Our client is a key supplier to the Global Oil, Gas, Petrochemical and energy sectors. We are searching for an additional SolidWorks Design Engineer to join their dynamic team in the UK Drawing office.
Ideal candidates will hold a mechanical engineering degree and possess a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in design. You must be proficient in SolidWorks and will ideally be using it in your current role.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide layouts, general arrangements and detail drawings in SolidWorks, 3D, CAD systems
- Responsible for problem-solving and finding solutions to sometimes complex design problems
- Prepare concept drawings of proposed solutions using SolidWorks
- Work as a team member dedicated to fulfilling project design requirements
- Producing 3D designs, 2D assembly and detail drawings, including parts list and costings
- Liaising with manufacturing Engineers to ensure parts can be manufactured
- Liaising with the design team in Malaysia and with Project Engineers on projects
- Preparation of RFQ’s, production tickets and first article approval forms
- Providing technical assistance to other members of staff
- Research new materials and methods of development
- Check drawings, review and comment on / approve seller drawings
- Utilising TEKLA for the structural design where appropriate
Candidate Skills and Experience Required:
- Degree educated in Mechanical Engineering with 2-5 years’ design experience in SolidWorks
- Good SolidWorks experience gained in a practical environment
- A practical technical background relevant to the position
- Attention to detail and willingness to complete projects, impeccable attention to detail
- Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and problem solve effectively
- Use specialised software to create models and drawings of products
- Ideal candidates will have experience of using TEKLA although this is not essential
