A leading quantitative hedge fund in London is seeking a hands-on Python Data Analyst Team Lead to manage and expand its data analytics function. This is a key role for a technically strong individual who enjoys coding, mentoring, and driving data strategy in a fast-paced, research-driven trading environment.
Role Overview:
They are looking for a hands-on Team Lead to be part of their Data Analyst group supporting its quantitative researchers with clean, structured and scalable data. The Data Analyst team is responsible for sourcing and evaluating new data sets, onboarding them and monitoring quality and usage, ensuring reliability across the stack. This data forms the foundation for alpha research and signal generation in its systematic trading strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Play a hands-on role while also leading and supporting a team of Data Analysts, providing coaching, career development and technical mentorship.
- Drive high-quality data delivery, operational excellence and continuous innovation across our data ecosystem.
- Strive to understand data needs to shape and execute strategic initiatives that accelerate research and signal development.
- Oversee and prioritise team projects from concept through to delivery, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years' experience as a Data Analyst
- Strong skills in Python, SQL and tools like dbt, Snowflake, AWS S3 and SQL Server.
- Solid understanding of financial instruments such as Equities, Futures, Forwards, CDS, IRS and ETFs with deep knowledge in at least one asset class.
- Familiarity with market data licensing and vendor relationships.
- Leading or coaching a technical team.
- Experience in a data team within a systematic hedge fund or similar environment is highly valued.
