The role of Boarding House Assistant is a new position designed to enhance the pastoral support the school offers in each of its boarding houses. The Boarding House Assistant will play a key role in assisting the Pastoral Team in the care of the pupils and the day‑to‑day running of the boarding house. The BHA will take early morning registration of the boys in Social, assist with the cleaning within Social, deputise for the PHM in their absence, and may administer medicines. The BHA helps to develop a culture based on kindness, courtesy, dignity and respect.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Pastoral Team (PHM, Tutor, Residential Sub‑Tutor) from 7:00 am to 9:30 am to ensure students' needs are put first.
  • Work with the central housekeeping team from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, cleaning pupil rooms and communal areas within Social as directed by the Housekeeping Management Team.
  • Provide an additional presence during short breaks in Social.
  • Assist with the day‑to‑day operation of the boarding house and support pastoral and first‑line medical care for pupils.
  • Support the promotion of a kind, courteous, dignified, and respectful environment for all students and staff.
  • Possibility of additional hours by working through to the end of the usual housekeeping shift.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a current UK driving licence.
  • Provide date of birth, nationality, and personal email address to facilitate background checks.
  • Approachable, cheerful, and able to interact positively with all members of the community.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with pastoral and housekeeping teams.
