Our students are at the heart of everything we do, and we are committed to supporting them to pursue their career and personal ambitions.
Alongside this, we are strengthening our research and innovation mission, building on areas of excellence across the University to deliver research that transforms understanding, informs practice and brings tangible benefit to society, communities and individuals. City St George’s is now seeking to appoint a Vice-President (Research & Innovation) to provide strategic leadership for research, knowledge exchange and innovation across the University.
Reporting to the Deputy President & Provost and working as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Vice-President will play a central role in delivering the ambitions of the University’s Research and Innovation sub-strategy, strengthening research culture, growing research income and external partnerships, and ensuring that City St George’s is well positioned for REF 2029 and beyond.
The successful candidate will work closely with Executive Deans, Vice-Presidents, Associate Vice-Presidents, Associate Deans for Research & Innovation, the Doctoral College, Research and Innovation Services and colleagues across the University to drive performance, collaboration, culture and impact. We are looking for an outstanding academic leader with a well-recognised international reputation and a strong understanding of the research and innovation landscape. Just as important will be the way in which they lead. The successful candidate will be someone who can work closely and constructively with colleagues across the University, building trust, listening carefully, socialising ideas and bringing people with them. They will have the credibility to influence senior academic and professional services colleagues, the judgement to know when to challenge and when to support and the personal style to create momentum through collaboration.
