We are seeking a Technical Hardware Manager to lead our hardware development projects, overseeing the development of new hardware, implementation, and maintenance of telematics hardware solutions. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in hardware solutions development, project management with a deep understanding of telematics systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the hardware development process for vehicle and asset tracking telematics products, end to end, from receiving user requirements to ensuring successful market release.
  • Responsibility for device management platforms, configurations and firmware releases. Having a deep understanding of configuration creation while maintaining accurate records of change log records for both configuration and FW releases.
  • Managing hardware team support staff, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including software engineering, product management, and operations, to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software solutions.
  • Develop and maintain project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure successful delivery of hardware products.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for new hardware initiatives, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Hardware test plan creation, testing and validation of hardware and accessories, ensuring reliability and performance under various conditions that meet both customer requirements and validate supplier data sheets.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously improve hardware design and functionality.
  • Establish and maintain technical relationships with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure quality and reliability of hardware.
  • Provide 3rd line technical support and expertise to internal teams and customers as needed.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in hardware development in the telematics industry.
  • Proven experience in leading hardware development teams, working directly with software engineering teams on integrations and managing complex projects.
  • Strong understanding of telematics systems, wireless communication protocols, and automotive electronics.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to think critically under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance (e.g., FCC, CE) and quality assurance processes.
  • Experience with IoT and connectivity solutions in the automotive sector (desirable).
  • Experience working with BLE (desirable).
  • Experience working with tier 1 Telematics suppliers (desirable).
