Job Description
Radius has grown rapidly at a time when tax requirements have become more complex and reporting more onerous (e.g. VIDA, real-time reporting). The Group has indirect tax responsibilities for over 80 legal entities across the UK, Europe, Asia and US. We are seeking a VAT Manager to join our in‑house Indirect Tax Advisory function. The Indirect Tax Advisory team is responsible for delivering high‑quality VAT advice to the business, shaping the Group’s VAT strategy, and driving risk management and operational efficiencies. This team provides expert guidance to support commercial decision‑making, including advising on new business offerings, cross‑border transactions, and complex VAT matters. It also supports the Tax compliance team on tax treatment questions. The role focuses on supporting the business on UK/EU VAT matters, identifying indirect tax risks, enhancing controls, and driving process improvements. The successful candidate will provide advisory support across the organisation and contribute to the development of a robust VAT framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide practical and timely VAT advice to business stakeholders across operational and finance teams.
- Support business initiatives, projects, and transactional workflows by ensuring correct VAT treatment.
- Review, strengthen, and maintain VAT controls, processes, and documentation.
- Identify opportunities for process and systems improvement, including alignment with finance systems and reporting tools.
- Contribute to VAT considerations for system or process changes across the business.
- Deliver VAT training and guidance to non‑tax teams (e.g., Accounts Payable, Sales, Finance Operations).
- Act as a point of contact for VAT‑related queries from internal teams.
- Assist the Head of Indirect Tax with HMRC enquiries, information requests, and audit queries.
- Support the review of VAT returns and related compliance tasks where required.
- Mentor junior team members, providing feedback and reviewing their work as required.
Qualifications Experience & Qualifications
- 4-6 years of hands‑on UK VAT experience gained in practice or industry.
- Requires both solid theoretical knowledge and practical, hands‑on advisory experience in UK VAT legislation, VAT accounting processes, and reporting requirements.
- Professional qualification such as ACCA, ACA, ATT, or HMRC VAT‑trained equivalent.
- Experience supporting finance system changes or process improvement projects.
- Exposure to advisory work on transactions or cross‑functional projects.
Core Skills
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability.
- Clear and effective communication skills, including the ability to explain VAT issues to non‑specialists.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and a proactive, improvement‑focused mindset.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across teams.
