The role of Environmental & Sustainability Compliance Manager is a critical new position within the Radius Sustainability & ESG team. We are seeking an experienced compliance professional with a broad understanding of sustainability legislation to take ownership of our Environmental Management System (ISO14001), lead environmental compliance activity across the Group, and play a pivotal role in ensuring Radius meets its growing obligations across sustainability reporting, environmental management, mobility and automotive regulation, and energy and EV-related legislation.
Job Purpose
The regulatory landscape facing Radius is expanding rapidly. As a multi-product, multi-geography business operating across fuel cards, telematics, telecoms, insurance, vehicle solutions and energy, Radius is subject to an increasingly complex matrix of sustainability and environmental obligations. This role exists to ensure those obligations are understood, monitored and met â proactively and systematically.
An immediate priority is preparing the business for the new ISO14001:2026 standard, while broadening EMS coverage across UK operations. In parallel, the role will develop a Group-wide picture of sustainability compliance obligations â spanning environmental management, sustainability reporting, automotive and mobility regulation, and energy and EV legislation â ensuring Radius is never caught off-guard by emerging requirements.
Responsibilities
- Take overarching responsibility for the Environmental Management System (EMS), ensuring compliance with ISO14001 and managing all associated programmes, policies and procedures across Group companies.
- Lead on the preparation and implementation of the updated ISO14001:2026 revision.
- Develop a pragmatic and commercially focused approach to gradually evolve the scope of the EMS to cover all sites within Radius.
- Develop and maintain all key EMSârelated documentation and policies, providing a single source of truth in the EMS.
- Create and maintain a continuous improvement plan for the EMS, ensuring it evolves in line with legislative and business requirements.
- Develop and implement an ambitious environmental compliance strategy, designing regular data and reporting systems to monitor performance, identify opportunities, drive engagement and meet compliance requirements.
- Manage environmental compliance registers for UK and Ireland, with a view to expanding coverage progressively to other key markets.
- Liaise with environmental regulatory authorities and local stakeholders regarding environmental issues and incidents where necessary.
Environmental and Sustainability Reporting Compliance
- Monitor and maintain a Group-wide register of environmental and sustainability reporting obligations, including environmental licences, WEEE, Packaging and future legislation.
- Track emerging sustainability reporting legislation and provide timely horizon-scanning updates to the wider S&ESG team.
- Lead gap analysis and readiness assessments against current and forthcoming reporting standards.
- Lead and ensure the Sustainability & ESG Team meets all mandatory sustainability reporting deadlines.
- Work with business divisions and countries on their specific environmental and sustainability compliance requirements, interpreting and applying a growing body of UK, European and international environmental and sustainability law.
Engagement and Site Accountability
- Manage site-level engagement and activation across the EMS, maintaining central accountability whilst ensuring sites remain responsible for their own performance.
- Establish a regular cadence of site contact across all EMS-scope sites, moving away from audit-only engagement to an ongoing compliance culture.
- Create site-level and business unit-level self-auditing processes to help sites identify, monitor and improve their compliance position.
- Work with the Climate Change and Environment Manager as a business partner to support the operational divisions across Radius, with general sustainability related initiatives.
- Be ready to support business unit environmental and sustainability compliance questions as they arise.
- Establish and champion a three-line defence model for environmental and sustainability compliance risk/opportunities, working in partnership with the Risk & Compliance Team.
- Develop and maintain an environmental risk management register and implement appropriate controls.
Reporting
- Collate site-level EMS performance and compliance reporting for the Sustainability Steering Committee on a quarterly basis.
- Provide regular updates on the broader sustainability compliance landscape to the S&ESG team and senior stakeholders.
Training
- Update and maintain environmental and sustainability compliance training requirements across the Group, ensuring colleagues understand their obligations.
- Develop communication strategies to engage employees, customers, suppliers and stakeholders in environmental sustainability initiatives.
Supporting Carbon and Environmental Data
- Support (as required) the collation of environmental and carbon data for Group sustainability reporting and compliance activity â including SECR, ESOS and carbon footprint reporting â for use by the Climate Change & Environment Manager.
Qualifications
- Qualified to degree level (or equivalent) ideally in environmental or sustainability studies.
- Ideal circa 10 years' experience in environmental or sustainability management.
- Significant experience in environmental and sustainability compliance, ideally circa 10 years, with handsâon expertise in ISO 14001 implementation, maintenance and audit in a multi-site environment.

- Deep working knowledge of UK and European environmental and sustainability legislation, with experience managing complex legal registers.
- Familiarity with sustainability reporting obligations, and an ability to track and interpret emerging requirements.
- Proven experience engaging with environmental regulatory authorities and managing compliance across a distributed site network.
