Job Description

The role of Assistant Group Accountant is an exciting opportunity for a part-qualified accountant looking to develop their career within a large, fast-paced and growing international business.

This position would particularly suit someone currently working within an accountancy practice who is looking to make their first move into industry.

You'll gain exposure to group reporting, management accounts, financial analysis, statutory reporting and business improvement projects, while continuing your professional development.

Based within our Group Finance team, you'll support the production of accurate and timely financial information across a diverse portfolio of companies, working closely with colleagues across the wider business.

This is a full-time onsite position based at our Crewe office, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm.

Your daily responsibilities will be...

  • Prepare monthly management accounts for a portfolio of group entities, including insightful commentary and variance analysis.
  • Assist with the preparation of consolidated group reporting for a large multi-entity international group.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring financial information is complete, accurate and submitted within agreed deadlines.
  • Support the production of monthly reporting packs, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow reporting.
  • Work closely with finance teams across the Group to ensure the timely and accurate submission of financial information.
  • Assist with year-end audits, statutory accounts preparation and corporate tax compliance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes, controls and reporting.
  • Contribute to finance-related projects and business improvement activities.
  • Support and collaborate with colleagues across the wider finance team, sharing knowledge and best practice.

About You

We're looking for someone who is ambitious, detail-oriented and eager to continue developing their accounting career.

You may currently be working within an accountancy practice in accounts preparation or audit and seeking your first move into industry, or already working within a finance team in a similar role.

Qualifications

  • Part-qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or actively studying towards a professional accounting qualification.
  • Ideally 2-4 years' experience gained within accountancy practice or a finance environment.
  • Audit, accounts preparation or financial reporting experience would be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large volumes of data.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across different teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritise workload effectively.
  • Proactive, adaptable and keen to learn.
  • A team player with a positive attitude and strong sense of accountability.
