A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A FINANCE MANAGER
We are looking for a detail-focused and commercially aware finance professional to support the effective financial management of the hotel.
This role will help maximise cash flow, maintain strong financial controls, support budgeting and forecasting, and provide accurate reporting and insight to guide operational decision-making.
Working closely with hotel leaders, the wider finance team and commercial colleagues, you will play a key part in ensuring robust accounting practices, compliance with company policies and legal requirements, and the delivery of efficient financial processes across the hotel.
- Maximizes cash flow performance of the hotel through controls on inventory, credit and collection, disbursements, deposits and remittances
- Enforces, documents and establishes adequate controls for all revenues and expenses and protection of assets, and ensures controls will satisfy or improve the level of guest service
- Maintains accurate and timely financial and operating information and provides analyzes, interpretations and projections to management as required
- Conducts monthly inspections and tests to ensure all departments are complying with required procedures
- Performs those duties as required by the Financial Controller in respect of controls
- Assists and provides financial guidance in the formulation and implementation of the business plan, hotel and departmental budgets, objectives program, and to manage relevant budgets appropriately
- Provides proactive administrative support to management with reference to policy enforcement, business advice and operational assistance
- Work closely with the brand to ensure maximum support to drive revenue and support cost efficiency.
- Obtains appropriate legal counsel regarding the business practices of the hotel, and maintains awareness of local rules, laws and regulations
- Implements and maintains acceptable accounting practices and procedures as required by corporate policies and procedures, generally accepted accounting practices, and those affected by local conditions
- Performs related duties and special projects as assigned and required
- Holds monthly credit meetings with the Financial Controller with relevant departments including Front Office, Sales, M&E Sales, Reservations and Revenue.
- Research declined bank cards and other credit card charge backs for justification and validity
- Preparation of month end reconciliation and in the final monthly closing of the accounts providing commentary and explanation on variances to budget
- Reconcile the bank accounts and receipts on daily basis
- Review and understand commercial strategy on all revenue streams, aligning finance activities to ensure the success of the hotel performance
- Recognise poor hotel departmental financial performance, understand drivers behind the issue and develop and implement solutions to mitigate risk to the business
- Collate and drive finance balance scorecard performance and ensure targets are met
- Attendance on weekly revenue meetings and RBH commercial meetings
- Ensure the hotel is fully compliant with GDPR policies
- Quality
Ensure the accuracy of accounts and financial information provided by other departments within the hotel is processed accurately
- General
- Comply with the company codes of conduct at all times
Perform other tasks at the level of the role as directed by your line manager in pursuit of the achievement of business goals
Ability to work as part of a diverse team with colleagues from different viewpoints, cultures and countries
