Are you a technical problem-solver with a commercial focus?
At Radiotronics, we believe the best Sales Engineers are problem-solvers first and salespeople second.
We're looking for someone who enjoys understanding how technology works, investigating complex challenges and finding practical solutions that genuinely benefit customers.
This isn't a traditional sales role. We don't believe in selling customers equipment they don't need. Sometimes the right solution is an entirely new communications system. Other times, it's a software licence, a configuration change or making better use of equipment the customer already owns.
Your job is to understand the customer's problem and find the most appropriate solution, not simply make the biggest sale.
What you'll be doing
- Working directly with customers to understand their communications requirements and identify the underlying problems.
- Designing and recommending practical, cost-effective radio communications solutions.
- Advising on analogue, DMR, dPMR, IP-connected and cellular-based radio systems.
- Assessing radio coverage, system capacity and opportunities to reuse existing infrastructure.
- Preparing technical proposals, quotations and system diagrams.
- Managing customer enquiries from initial consultation through to successful delivery.
- Configuring, programming and troubleshooting radio equipment and associated IP networks.
- Coordinating with installation engineers, suppliers and colleagues.
- Building lasting customer relationships through honest, technically sound advice.
What weβre looking for
Essential:
- A sound understanding of RF principles, including signal propagation, coverage and attenuation.
- Working knowledge of electronics and electrical engineering fundamentals.
- Good understanding of TCP/IP networking, including addressing, subnets, switches and routers.
- Strong logical reasoning and technical problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to explain complex technical subjects clearly.
- Commercial awareness, initiative and a willingness to learn.
Desirable:
- Experience with Motorola MOTOTRBO, Hytera, Kenwood or Icom radio systems.
- Knowledge of analogue, DMR, dPMR and IP-connected radio technologies.
- Experience with VLANs, VPNs, repeaters and multi-site networks.
- Familiarity with radio dispatch software, PoC systems or RF coverage planning.
- Previous experience in technical sales, radio engineering or system integration.
You don't need to know every manufacturer or technology. We're more interested in your understanding of the fundamentals, how you approach problems and your ability to learn.
Why join Radiotronics?
- Β£32,000βΒ£38,000 annual salary, based on experience and technical ability.
- Specialist manufacturer training through our MOTOROLA Empower Partner programme, including opportunities to gain industry-recognised certifications.
- Exposure to a wide variety of RF, networking and communications technologies.
- A practical, informal and collaborative working environment.
- The opportunity to take ownership of projects and develop both technical and commercial expertise.
Working arrangements
Monday to Friday, 8:45amβ5:30pm (41.25 hours per week), with reasonable additional hours up to 48 hours per week when required, included in the agreed salary.
The role is based at our premises in Retford, with regular travel throughout the UK and occasional overnight stays. Authorised business travel and accommodation expenses are covered.
- Location: Retford, Nottinghamshire
- Salary: Β£32,000βΒ£38,000 per annum, depending on experience and demonstrated technical ability.
- Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
- Location: Retford, Nottinghamshire (office-based, with nationwide travel)
It doesn't have to involve radio communications. We're interested in how you think, not just what you already know.
Applications will be considered on relevant skills, abilities and experience.
