Technical and Editorial Operations Assistant, Radio Maria England
Overview:
Radio Maria England is expanding and we’re looking for talented people with a passion for spreading the Gospel and elevating the culture to join our committed team.
The Technical and Editorial Operational Assistant plays a fundamental role in ensuring the smooth day to day running of our live broadcasting and the preparation of these programmes for subsequent rebroadcast on air and through the Listen Again and Podcast channels. The postholder also has responsibility for the management of outside broadcasts using our mobile studios and for liaising with volunteers to assist with the
same. In addition, the postholder will have responsibility for developing ways to make our programming more easily accessible across a range of other media platforms, to
draw more listeners to the Radio and podcasts.
Reports to:
Priest Director and Editorial & Programming Manager for internal broadcasting and other related matters, the Coordinator for outside broadcasts and the dissemination of content across other platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting the Editorial and Programming Manager with the production of the on-air schedule and uploading to DJ Pro and the website;
- introducing and managing software to facilitate easier rebroadcast of live programmes through use of Digiware or similar;
- developing a strategy to make our programming available across a wider variety of platforms, along with the managing of necessary video equipment, e.g. Facebook and YouTube
- the production and posting of shorter clips of our programmes on appropriate platforms such as Instagram;
- audio editing and podcasting;
- dealing with day to day technical issues with broadcasting, phones, and IT;
- managing our exciting range of external broadcasts;
- liaising with our growing team of committed volunteers.
Other Responsiblilties:
- Producing on-air Jingles for fundraising and to promote events and other programmes
- On-air facilitation of programmes, e.g. broadcasting of Masses and Rosaries
- Assistance with Website
- Managing and updating contact database (currently on CIVI)
- Managing and updating music database
Other
- More generally it is understood that as part of a small team, it may be necessary from time to time to help with other essential elements of the radio station
Qualifications and Aptitude
Live Radio is an exciting but also pressurised environment. The successful candidate must have a capacity for working to deadlines and have a willingness to help in areas of work outside of their day-to-day responsibilities when necessary.
Ideally the successful candidate will have some familiarity with most of our software and hardware, and must be someone with the technical aptitude to be able to familiarise themselves with new technologies with relative ease. Training and assistance will be provided in the short-term to become familiar with our existing systems. Technical support will also be available from the Word Family of Radio Maria when necessary.
Hours, salary and leave
The position is 0.75, but with the hope of the possibility of becoming a full-time role in the near to medium-term.
Hours: Up to 4 days a week basis (75% of FTE).
Job Type: Fixed-term contract for 12 months, renewable.
Leave Entitlement: proportional to the hours contracted (24.75 days, 75% of FTE)
