Radio Maria England is expanding and we’re looking for talented people with a passion for spreading the Gospel and elevating the culture to join our committed team. The Editorial Content Assistant plays a fundamental role in the daily work of the radio station, supporting the Priest Director and the Editorial & Programming Manager. This position involves assisting in content creation, identifying guest speakers, contributing ideas for new series and managing administrative tasks to ensure the production of high-quality and engaging programming in alignment with the station's mission and values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation Support: Collaborate with other members of the Editorial Team to discuss, research, and develop content ideas for radio programmes, sourcing speakers, planning interviews, and organising pre-recorded content. Contribute to programme topics, segments, and guest speaker suggestions aligned with Radio Maria England's mission and audience interests. Helping with the editorial highlights section of the monthly newsletter. Assist as necessary as a facilitator for programmes.
  • Administrative Tasks: Assisting in administrative duties, including scheduling, organising meetings, maintaining databases, and handling correspondence within the editorial team. Help in maintaining content calendars, tracking deadlines and ensuring smooth workflow processes.
  • Content Review and Editing: Support in proofreading, fact-checking, and editing content to ensure accuracy and consistency, e.g. news briefs, broadcast scripts, podcast show notes, etc. Editing recorded broadcasts as necessary for rebroadcast and where appropriate for podcasts and overseeing volunteers who fulfil these tasks. On-going maintenance and improvement of Radio Maria’s music database, jingles and programme and event trailers. Writing and maintaining readouts for broadcasters.
  • Research and Analysis: Analyse audience feedback, engagement metrics and trends to contribute to content which fulfils our mission and helps to grow our number of listeners.
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Liaise effectively with guests, facilitators, hosts, volunteers, and other team members to facilitate coordination and communication on content-related tasks. Preparing volunteers to facilitate broadcasts (e.g. Masses and Prayers) and host programmes (e.g. interviews and talks), assuring that volunteers are technically proficient and that they follow Radio Maria’s character and values. This will be done through in-person tutorials and written materials found in the on-air broadcasting folder and short video tutorials to keep broadcasters up to date on Radio Maria’s broadcasting norms. Contribute actively to team meetings, share insights and support the implementation of content strategies. Coordinate logistics for guest speaker interviews, remote broadcasts, or on-site recordings as needed.
  • Other: Manage external broadcasts and volunteers involved and the use of the mobile studio. More generally it is understood that as part of a small team, it may be necessary from time to time to help with other essential elements of the radio station.

Traits: Live Radio is an exciting but also pressurised environment. The successful candidate must have a capacity for working to deadlines and have a willingness to help in areas of work outside of their day-to-day responsibilities when necessary. Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset. Deadline-oriented with the ability to work efficiently under pressure. Passionate about radio broadcasting, Catholic content and community engagement. Tech-savvy and adaptable to new tools and technologies with a willingness to learn new tools and platforms. Detail-oriented and attentive to accuracy.

This is a full-time position with a fixed-term contract for 12 months, renewable. Salary and other benefits available on inquiry.
