Location: Hybrid- 3 days/week on site (Culham, Oxfordshire OX14 3DB)
Duration: 9 Months
Accountabilities:
- Accountable for supporting design work on major fusion sub-systems, from concept through to detailed design on enhancement programs for facilities as well as for future fusion devices.
- Accountable for design aspects relating to all assigned systems/components including repair, replacement or upgrade activities.
- Develop and effectively implement systems for managing design requirements and interfaces, and processes for ensuring satisfactory performance/compliance, and ensure these are adopted by design teams.
- Ensure that detail designs are appropriately validated, working with engineering technicians/analysts/suppliers as necessary, and ensure appropriate adherence to design standards.
- The designs are compliant with the methods of manufacture/assembly/maintenance.
- Deliver projects to the satisfaction of the Customer (internal or external) within the imposed constraints.
- Produce technical reports, departmental notes and procedures where appropriate.
- Complete/Supervise the design including the generation of technical documentation e.g. electrical drawings, bill of materials, cable schedules etc.; Ensure the design phases implement principles of value engineering and design for manufacture.
- Demonstrate good communication with personnel across the organisation as well as good team working.
Essential:
- C&I experience and a solid electrical engineering background.
- A relevant engineering degree / HND or HNC / Level 4 or 5 apprenticeship or equivalent with relevant experience.
- Proven knowledge of adherence to relevant UK regulations / EU directives for Electrical safety and compliance.
- Experience in machinery safety principles and the use and application of BS EN 60204-1.
- Knowledge of functional safety and process safety desirable.
- Wide experience of using AutoCAD / AutoCAD Lite basic CAD drawing package to produce electrical documentation.
- Understanding of the operation of data configuration control.
- Ability to perform exploratory design concepts using first principles.
- Proven capability in engineering design and a good working knowledge of manufacturing techniques/engineering materials and their properties.
- Knowledge of electrical enclosure/control panel manufacturing techniques.
- Proficient in the knowledge and application of recognised drawing standards and BS EN 61082 in particular.
- Good communication, technical writing and interpersonal skills.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of and the application of BS 7671 18th Edition. Qualification desirable.
- Experienced user of an electrical CAD package such as Solidworks Electrical (current package used), EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical.
