About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior SEN Lawyer to join a busy legal team on a 3-month contract. This role focuses on providing expert legal advice and representation in Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) matters, with a particular emphasis on Tribunal proceedings and Judicial Reviews. You will act as a senior lead within the team, handling complex cases while supporting and guiding junior colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on and conduct SEND Tribunal proceedings
- Provide legal advice on law, policy, strategy, and procedure
- Advise on and manage Judicial Review matters
- Act as a lead lawyer, offering guidance and supervision to team members
- Represent the organisation at court hearings when required
- Ensure high-quality, timely legal outcomes aligned with statutory requirements
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Legal Executive in the UK
- Significant experience in SEN / SEND law
- Proven experience handling SEND Tribunals
- Strong knowledge of public law and Judicial Reviews
- Ability to work autonomously in a remote setting
- Experience mentoring or supervising legal colleagues
Desirable
- Local authority experience
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to manage a high caseload under pressure
