Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Human Resources Manager, based in Reading with flexibility for some home working. The HR Manager will lead and manage all aspects of HR across Radiant Care Homes, supporting our residential homes, managers and leadership team.

The successful candidate will oversee the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, safer recruitment checks, onboarding, employee relations, HR policies, staff records, training compliance and workforce planning. The role will also support the organisation in maintaining compliance with UK employment law, Ofsted requirements, safer recruitment standards, Children’s Homes Regulations and internal policies.

This is a key role for someone who is confident working independently, able to provide clear HR advice to managers and passionate about supporting a positive, professional and compliant workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end recruitment for residential care staff, senior staff and support roles.
  • Ensure recruitment and onboarding processes meet safer recruitment and Ofsted requirements.
  • Manage DBS checks, references, right-to-work checks and employee documentation.
  • Provide HR advice and guidance on disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance and employee wellbeing matters.
  • Maintain and update HR policies, procedures and staff records.
  • Support preparation for Ofsted inspections, audits and internal compliance reviews.
  • Monitor training records, probation periods, sickness, turnover and recruitment activity.
  • Support managers with performance reviews, staff development and employee engagement.
  • Contribute to workforce planning and continuous improvement across the organisation.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven HR management experience, ideally within children’s residential care, social care, healthcare, education or another regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Good understanding of safer recruitment, safeguarding and compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing employee relations cases independently.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and HR systems.
  • CIPD Level 5 or above, or equivalent experience, is desirable.
  • Experience within an Ofsted-registered setting would be highly advantageous.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable due to occasional travel to residential homes.
